It had been a year since Cyndie started her company with Elliot, her cousin.
The business had been good, there's always a need for fancy furnitures, and they had a nice inventory.
But, you know, it's not always easy working with family, specialy when you know some of their secrets.
For exemple, Elliot was a pyromaniac. Most of the time, Cyndie kept him at home to do the paper work, but sometimes, when the workload was too much to handle, she couldn't help but call him for help at the factory.
About four months ago, she stopped him in the nick of time from starting a fire in a king size bed. And, well, we always try to help family member the best we can, so to release Elliot fire needs, she took him to the country side and let him burn an old barn she had bought.
She knew she should have made the connection when Elliot started going on the road to find new clients. He always came back to work the next day very happy and relaxed...
On a saturday morning, the newspaper headline made her shiver inside:
¨A primary school in the suburbs was prey to the flammes, ten dead¨
Of course, she was worried, and upset, but Elliot did own half her company...
She skipped the news and read the comics instead.

Jenny
How far do you have to go to actually be tired of running away from yourself? Well, it's a good question everyone should ask himself, especially when it starts to get dark.
It had been 2 months since Jenny left everyone in Montreal to move to Munich, and already she got herself into troubles. It wasn't her fault most men found her irresistible, but she sure had the bad habit of angering psycho junkie ex-boyfriends. Yeah, you know, the kind that follows you around even when you go riding alone in the fields a week after you told him it could never be.
It started as a nice day, but when she found out he was following her, she tried to tell him off, but he wouldn't listen, and she was starting to lose patience...and after all, they were so far out there, with no one to see them.
Now, in complete darkness, one should ask himself if it's a good sign to see lights coming your way when you're lost in a field, next to the cold body of you're ex-girlfriend by the side of the road.
He sure could go for a hit right now.

Murray
One baby out of two born in New Zeland will work in the sheep industry. Murray was that person.
He never wanted to be a shepherd, but when everyone in your family plus their neighbours were, you can't really change your fate.He hated the sheeps with a passion, hearing them bleat in his sleep. The only part of his job that he didn't find too bothersome was bringing them to the hills by the sea for grazing.
The view was simply breathtaking, at least when the fog wasn't up. This morning, it was particulary heavy ; he couldn't even see the first sheep in front of him, but he sure could hear them.
¨Come on you stupid beasts! Stop whinning, and let's go back home!¨
Most of the time, they were bleating for no reasons, but sometimes, they were screaming while falling to their deaths, like today.
And as Murray was falling behind them towards the sharp rocks sticking out of the water, he couldn't help but wonder what his live would have been if he had become a sailor.
But that thought left him pretty quickly.

Sailor
¨Oh no oh no oh no oh no¨
Thoses were the only words coming out of Hugh mouth over and over, as he was running all over the deck.
¨Oh no oh no oh no¨
Sure, the boat wasn't very big, but it was still frightning, with all thoses waves and dark clouds on the horizon...
You see, Hugh had been hired has an helper in the kitchen almost two months ago.
His prowess making soups and veggies assured him the job during the interview. The only problem: Hugh is a vegeterian. And that kind of information can make your life hell on a boat with very manly sailors.
This morning, the helper had enough, and wanted to prank them: If they like meat, they won't mind rat meat, right?
Yeah, well, they didn't mind the taste of the meat, but they sure didn't digest the rat poison they were filled with.
The sky sure got dark fast, and it looks like the wind is picking up...
¨Oh no Oh no Oh no Oh no...¨

The ways of Sam
He never said he had good reasons to do the kind of things he did. Some would blame insanity, or demons talking to them. Well, not Sam, he simply didn't know better.
Why cross the street jumping on only one foot? Well, a long time ago, he had injured his foot, so he was hopping from place to place and a lot of times girls found that cute, or sad and offered help to go around. So that stuck with him.
Some people wonder why he smiles at strangers in the subway or on the bus, well that started last year, while he was having a very bad week, a sweet old lady smiled at him, warming the cloud surrounding him. Ever since he tried to do the same to others;.
Why does he always carry at least one dead cat in his backpack? That one goes way back, when he was a child walking to school. He found this dead kitty on the sidewalk, and placed it in a plastic bag inside his backpack, to show the cat to his teacher. And, well, he pretty much forgot about the cat once at school, and it stayed in his bag for almost a week.
You know, some experiences leads you to do things you don't really understand. At least, that's Sam's story.

High Horse
It was a long time ago, yet, he can't stop laughing about it.
Jacob was 17, and full of himself. He grew up on a ranch in virginia and already believed he was better than most. Since he was 15 he had been working for horse riding events and competitions, and being the youngest employe made him very proud.
But Jacob remembers that day, when this man, this tall and strong man, adored by everyone, came and pissed on his parade. How dare he? It was him, Jacob, that should be the center of attention.
An easy way to get rid of this guy was simple: Jacob always loved to play hide and seek with his younger brother, so if he could scare a 10 years old, he sure as hell could scare a jumping horse. That would bring down that actor to the level of an everyday man.
Too bad Superman didn't have a stuntman that day.

Father Marcus
It had been 6 days since the earthquakes, and the villagers were still working days and nights to find the man of Faith, Father Marcus.
One of the neighbour of the Church, Juan, went back home to clean himself up and get some sleep for he had worked for 48 hours on the rumbles of the holy building.
He immediatly came back to the village plaza to get everyone, he had found father Marcus.
The holy man often used Juan laundry room to clean his clothes. On the day of the earthquakes, a few bedsheets fell on his head, and believing he was covered by debris from the roof, he didn't move from underneath.
The entire village cried all night long, and buried him the next morning in the praying position he had kept for 6 straight days.
